		<description><![CDATA[These beautiful children were accompanying their Grandfather one pleasant afternoon in Gereshk.  The grandfather was gracious to pose with me and this brood later as well, but this image captures both the haunting beauty and the desperate plight of so many of the children in Afghanistan.  They just break your heart.]]></description>

		</p><p>I saw this little guy being yanked back out of the path of oncoming traffic along the main street in northern Marjeh one hot afternoon.  Scared me to death.  The afghan military officer who grabbed him in the nick of time smacked him on the back of the head, just to drive the lesson home.  It brought a tear to his eyes momentarily, but I believe the little guy won&#8217;t wander into another street without thinking.  Then I saw a the soldier smile softly as he turned away.</p>
